Rating: 6.7/10 (7 votes cast)

Enter the ambient world of Osmos: elegant, physics-based gameplay, dreamlike visuals, and a minimalist, electronic soundtrack.

Your objective is to grow by absorbing other motes. Propel yourself by ejecting matter behind you. But be wise: ejecting matter also shrinks you. Relax… good things come to those who wait.

Progress from serenely ambient levels into varied and more challenging worlds. Confront attractors, repulsors and intelligent motes with similar abilities and goals as you.

Holy Man. And cheap! So relaxing yet frustratingly hard toward the end levels. Another physics-based, ambient-type game from Hemisphere Games here. Nice graphics, soundtrack, and game sounds make a relaxing experience. This is becoming a ‘comfort game’ for me, though after an hour or so I want to smash windows out after listening to too much of the Eno-esque ‘Music for Airports vs. Swastika Girls’ soundtrack .
My simmer down game after I get my butt handed to me in L4D, or TF2.
    Cool, calming breaths over heaya.

I thought I was down with fiddly. I love games like Trine and World of Goo. I thought the control system of Macharium was a stroke of genius.

So I think you know what I mean when I say, god, this game is fiddly.

The “relaxing” or “chill out” aspect of this game may be a bit over-sold. There are at least a few levels which just about demand a completely frantic opening pace.

But there’s a lot of more slow-paced play as well, and I think the makers have developed a good variety of challenges from a very simple concept/game mechanic. All in all, I’m glad I picked it up.
